Executive & Operations Officer –  LT James Washington, NSCC

 

Medical Officer - ENS Joe Crossman, NSCC

ENS Crossman has been in the Sea Cadet program for nearly 13 years as a Cadet, Midshipman and Officer. He is a US Navy Commissioned Officer (Lieutenant - Nurse Corps) stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital.

 

Admin Officer – INST Jennifer Glomb, NSCC

INST Glomb has been with the Sea Cadet program for 3 years in an administrative capacity. She is employed in the private sector in Administration and Office management.

Division Officer - INST Charles Cavaleri, NSCC

INST Cavaleri is a Naval Active Duty Aviation Administration 3rd class. He is in his first year in the Sea Cadet program.

INST Normile is an Naval Active Duty Master-at-Arms (Police Officer). She has been on active duty for 3 years and is in her first year with the Sea Cadet Program.

Only money orders made out to "Norfolk Advanced Training" are being accepted for this training. Please note, personal or units checks with be returned and your cadet registration not confirmed. The address to send money orders will be promulgated via the Command "Welcome Aboard" letter after registration.  Training deposits are non-refundable. 

 

Cadet Arrival Reporting Uniform

All cadets are to check in their summer dress uniform.

Cadet arriving by air, upon arrival to Constitution Hall, will be required to change into their dress uniform for check in. Cadets may not travel by air in their dress uniforms.

Cadet Arrivals and Departures – Air Travel
Cadets are required to arrive at NAVSTA, Norfolk Building B-30, 1100-1700, Sunday 30JUN19. Due to building reservations, early arrivals are not allowed. ​

 

Nearest airport is: Norfolk International Airport (ORF).

 

For cadets arriving & departing by air, itinerary of arrival/departure MUST be sent to COTC by 21JUN19 in order to ensure shuttle service is scheduled. The form for this information will be included in the "Welcome Aboard" letter and sent once registered.

 

Cadet flights must arrive on Sunday, 30 JUN 18 prior to 1500. If this is not supportable, please contact the COTC prior to making reservations. We will work with you but need to know!

Cadet flight departures must be on Sunday 07JUL18 after 1300. 

 

This training cannot support unaccompanied minors. 

 

 

​Cadet Arrivals and Departures – Ground Travel
Arrivals:

Cadets are required to arrive at NAVSTA, Norfolk Building B-30, 1100-1700, Sunday 30JUN19. Due to building reservations, early arrivals are not allowed. ​

​

Parents with DOD access to military installations, use Gate 2 at Naval Station Norfolk. Bldg B-30 is one block inside the gate, park across the street parking lot after left at first light. Maps available upon request.

​

Those without DOD/base access, we will offer shuttle service from the Norfolk NEX mini-mart located immediately outside the gate at the following departure times: 1200, 1400, 1600, 1700 only. Please complete the travel form within the "Welcome Aboard" letter if shuttle is needed.

​

Departures:

Cadets may be picked up at the quarterdeck, BLDG B-30 on Sunday 07JUL18 from 1200-1900.
NO LATE PICKUPS, PLEASE PLAN FOR TRAFFIC DELAYS.

​

Parents without base access: Shuttle times for pick up at the NEX gas station will be Sunday 07JUL18, Sunday 1300, 1500, and 1600. NO LATE PICKUPS, PLEASE PLAN FOR TRAFFIC DELAYS.

​

Graduation - The location of graduation has not yet been determined but will be onboard Naval Station Norfolk. Parents are cordially invited to attend and information will be emailed to parents the week of training. A shuttle for parents without base access will be provided the day of. All information concerning graduation will be sent at a later date. 

​

Meals and Dietary Restrictions
Your cadet will experience meals provided by the US Naval Station Galley. The exact food prepared and consumed by US Navy personnel. Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee that food served will be free of common allergens: gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, nuts, etc. While the galley provides a wide variety of choice, please understand that we cannot guarantee meals free from the above allergens.

Due to the large number of cadets, we cannot provide individual cadet meals.

 

Medical Information and Registration
Vaccinations:

In accordance with NSCC regulations, cadets are required to vaccinated against: polio, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis b, pertussis, tetanus, diphtheria, and meningitis. Due to shared living conditions, the USNSCC will not grant waivers to this policy.

Submit SIGNED NSCTNG 001

 - NSCADM 001 pages 3 and 4 must be within the recruits training jacket.  

    This form should be signed within 30 days of training start. Forms dated

    earlier than 31 MAY 19 will not be accepted.

 - NSCADM 001 pages 5 and 6 must be within the recruits training jacket.  

    This form should be signed within a year of training completion Forms

    dated 08 JUL 18 and before will not be accepted.

  - If prescription medication is required during training, submit a

    SIGNED NSCADM 001 Page 7 and 8. Our medical officer is authorized to

    provide over the counter medications as needed. Please do not include

    these items in a sea bag.

  - If needed, submit NSCADM 001 Page 9 and 10 for ADA Request for

    Accommodation. Please note an approved accommodation at the home unit

    does not constitute approval by the training command.

​

Medication at Training: (Refrigeration is available)
Any cadet who is bringing medications must submit an NSCADM 001 (page 7/8) Medical history Supplemental with their NSCTNG 001 Request For Training Authority. If a cadet is bringing OTC meds, a parent or guardian needs to sign the form.

If a cadet is bringing ANY prescription medication, parent/guardian, UNIT CO, and the prescribing clinician must sign the  001 form. At least 2 adults will be present at the dispensing of any medications.

All medications must be their original packaging with clear labels. No loose or “zip-lock” bag medication will be accepted.

Common Sick Bay Supplies:
Common sick medications will be available to cadets: Imodium AD, Pepto-Bismol, Motrin, acetaminophen only. If requested by the cadet, a telephone call will be place to the parent/guardian for clarification, dosage and permission.

 

Parental Contact:
For safety, accidents, and cadet homesick comfort (if needed) or for emergency contact, a parent/guardian agrees to be available by telephone during the ENTIRE TRAINING TIME. I cannot stress this enough.

Facebook - Photographs will be uploaded to Facebook throughout training. Access must be granted to the group and will only be provided to parents/unit staff of enrolled recruits. Website address is distributed within the Welcome Aboard letter.

Sea Bag Requirements:

Per USNSCC Regulation, effective 01SEP18, the USNSCC PT uniform is a mandatory sea bag item. This uniform consists of 2 PT USNSCC gold shirts, and 1 USNSCC pair of shorts. Laundry for PT gear only will be performed mid-week, however additional PT gear is recommended.

Please note, this PT uniform is 100% required for this training, and is not available locally for immediate purchase.

It is highly recommend that PT gear be labeled with your cadets' name to ensure returned properly after  laundry service.

There will be a full sea bag inspection completed at check in.

Physical Training and PT Uniforms:
In accordance with NSCC policy, cadets are required to have successfully completed a PRT within the previous 6 months.

​

During this training, you cadet will be given a mandatory Physical Trianing test and is required to pass in order to graduate. The minimum requirements are:

We will be performing physical training Monday-Friday mornings and appropriate/prescribed PT gear is required. Details in the sea bag list above

Other Information:

​

Navy Ship Tour:
During the training week, we are planning a field trip to the USS Wisconsin (BB-64), mid-week if we are unable to secure a tour of an Active Duty Navy Ship at Norfolk. There is a gift shop, therefore cadets are encouraged to bring spending money for the gift shop. Once monies are in the cadet’s possession, they are responsible for, and the unit will not reimburse for cadet loss.

Cell Phones, Cameras, and Electronic Devices:
Cell phones, cameras and electronic devices will be collected and stored during the training evolution (distributed during the ship tour). For contact with any cadet for an emergency will be performed through the COTC @

​

Outside Food/Candy/Snacks:
No outside food, candy, snacks, etc will be permitted during the training week. Please do not bring it.

​

​Laundry:
Performed mid week for PT gear only.
